Mr Mahut has been active in the Polish community for many years. He is an active instructor in the Polish Scouting movement in Canada, where he has held many leadership roles, among them as the Chief Commissioner for Polish Scouts in Canada (Komendant Choragwi Harcerzy w Kanadzie), Chief Commissioner of the Polish Scouts Millennial World Jamboree (Zlot 2000 - Komendant Zlotu Harcerzy) and the Local Commissioner for the Baltyk Sea Scouts (szczepowy). Additionally, he served for many years on the Polish World Scouting Advisory Board based in London, England (Naczelna Rada Harcerska), and, since 1992, has been instrumental in the development and implementation of multiple national and international Scout Instructor Development Courses. Mr. Mahut currently serves as the Chief Commissioner of Polish Senior Scouts / Guides in Canada (Kierownik Starszego Harcerstwa w Kanadzie) and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada’s Board of Directors.
Mr Mahut has also served at various times as the President and Board Chair, the Chair of the Audit Committee, and the Chair of the Asset Liability Committee of the St. Stanislaus St. Casimir’s Polish Parishes Credit Union, and was also a Director on the Board of Directors of the PolCan Bank S.A. in Europe.
Mr Mahut is a Director and Board Secretary for the Atlantic Council of Canada, as well as a multi year member of the Executive Committee, where he serves as the Vice President for Strategic Planning.
He also holds the position of Manager of Energy Practices for U. S. Steel Canada Inc. with responsibilities in energy procurement and involvement in best practices and energy project development across all Canadian facilities. In the steel industry, Mr. Mahut has previously held positions as the Manager of Business Process Reengineering and Systems Integration, Technical Committee member and North American Technical Presenter for the Global UltraLight Steel Autobody Program, and as Corporate Representative for Government Relations. He is currently the Chair of the Canadian Steel Producers Association Energy Subcommittee, as well as, in representation of the Canadian Steel Industry, both a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC), which is a part of the Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada, and as the CIPEC Steel Sector Chair.
Mr. Mahut has the designation of Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration with majors in Marketing and Finance, both from the University of Toronto. Andy and Barbara Mahut, together with their three children, are residents in the Greater Toronto Area.
